The recent acts of State Parliament regarding Pollution of the Environment and Occupational Health and Safety have required the Davis Marina to restrict and regulate the way in which our premises are used. Under these acts the Workshop and Slipways are designated as our Workspace and the Marina Management must supervise thoroughly all activities in these areas.

As a result only the following are allowed to enter our Workspace:

 Davis Marina staff

    Preferred Contractors

Marine Surveyors

Hourly Rates

The hourly rates are as follows

                             Shipwright                                           $  94.00

                             Toilet Repairs                                     $120.00

Quotations

The Marina shipwrights are often able to supply quotations or estimates for proposed work. The Marina will charge $25 for this service.  If our quote or estimate is accepted this fee will be deducted from the final invoice.

In the table below we have a list of preferred contractors. These companies and businesses have been chosen because they are qualified, experienced, trained to work on our slipways / workshop and hold the appropriate insurance.

For other tradesmen like Stainless Steel fabricator, Rigger etc. please contact our Marina Office

Engaging the contractor yourself

You may contact the contractor directly. If they require power, water or easy access you may need to book the work berth through our office.

Engaging the contractor through our office

If you do not have the time to organise a contractor or there is a fair amount of coordination required between contractors or the marina shipwright  it may be best to have the marina manage the contractor. A management fee will be charged and this is shown in a table in the catalogue. The management fee varies depending on the size of the work and is usually 15 % to 20 %.

 Outside Labour

A client wishing to employ anyone who is not on our preferred contractor list is known as an outside contractor. Outside contractors are allowed to work on boats at the work berth or on a boat at a marina berth. They are not allowed to work on the slipway or enter our workshop.

Insurance

All outside labour must:

Lodge copies of their Certificates of Currency with our office at least

24 hrs before the commence work

Have Liablility Insurance for $10,000,000 or more

Have Workers Compensation Insurance if they are a company

Notify Office

Clients should notify our office if they are engaging outside labour prior to the work commencing. This will enable us to release the key and allow acces to your boat. Before commencing work contractors are required to report to the Marina office. We will ask contractors to sign our contractor workbook, which shows on which date contractors worked on your boat.

If contractors such as yacht brokers, surveyours, sales persons in the opinion of the Marina Management are low risk they may be exempt from proof of ensurance.

A management fee is applied to all purchases and subcontractors accounts paid by the Marina on behalf of our clients. The scale of fees is included in this price list and also displayed on the office notice board. Subcontractors accounts on the marina invoice are marked up and usually a copy of the contractors account is attached.
