Preferred Contractors

The Marina operates a preferred contractor scheme.  These contractors have been chosen because they are experienced, able to work on our slipway and workshop and hold appropriate insurance. 

Sailor Marine will be the marinas preferred contractors for all mechanical, electrical, shipwright and antifouling services. 

The hourly rates are as follows:

                                                                        Mechanical, electrical and shipwright labour                 $  94.00

                                                                        Non tradesmen’s labour                                                  $  66.00            

                                                                        Toilet repairs                                                                     $120.00 

Estimates/proposal to trade can be supplied for all mechanic/electrical and shipwright work and charged at an hourly rate of $94.00.

Outside Contractors

Anyone employed by a client and not a preferred contractor is known as an outside contractor.  All outside contractors must complete a contractors registration process before commencing any work.  Once they have completed their registration they are allowed to work on a boat at our work berth, a marina berth or on a mooring.

There are restrictions on where and when outside contractors are allowed to work (see below).

Contractors Registration

Registration must be completed before work is commenced and it lapses each day at 5pm.  The following information will be required for registration.

1. A letter from the owner authorizing the contractor to work on the designated boat.
2. Contractors Marine Card
3. A suitable Certificate of Currency of Public Liability insurance
4. A suitable Certificate of Currency of Workers Compensation insurance (not required for Sole Traders or Partnerships)
5. Sign the contractors book

Restriction on Outside Contractors

The following restrictions apply to Outside Contractors:

1. They are not allowed entry to the slipway or workshop
2. They are not allowed to use the Workboat (Rumpus) or the Tender (Runaround).
3. They are not allowed to borrow tools or equipment from Davis Marina
4. Work must be conducted between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Check list for Outside Contractors

Before registration outside contractors should check the following:

Authorisation

Check that you have a letter from owner

Insurance

Check you have a Certificate of Currency for Public Liability insurance (min. $10,000,000 or more)

Check you have a Certificate of Currency for Workers Compensation

Check dates on Certificates of Currency to make sure they are current

Check the job descriptions are appropriate to the work to undertaken

Check that the name on the certificates is your employers name

General

Check that the boat you intend working on is at our marina

Check that the boat you intend working on is not on our slipway
